This Is Your Home Too

Walk in as a stranger and you'll leave on a first-name basis. Every new student gets welcomed the same way here — like family, not a customer. That's not an accident. It's how we've built this room from day one, and it's why so many people who came in for a free class never left.

We've grown into one of the largest and longest-standing academies in Northeast Wyoming by keeping that promise — real self-defense, real sport Jiu-Jitsu, and a community where beginners and competitors train side by side and genuinely look out for each other.

Questions

Before you step on the mat

What makes WPBJJ the best academy in Gillette?+
One of the longest-standing academies in Northeast Wyoming, with IBJJF-registered instructors focused on confidence, fitness, and real-world self-defense.
Do you offer self-defense classes?+
Yes — practical self-defense for adults, men, and women, built on BJJ technique that's easy to apply in everyday situations.
Can I train here and somewhere else?+
Of course. It's your Jiu-Jitsu.
Do you offer family pricing?+
Yes, and it's automatic. Link your household in the member portal, and once it holds two or more active memberships — any mix of adults and kids — every membership in it is 20% off.
What do I wear to my first class?+
Athletic clothes are perfect — a t-shirt and shorts or leggings, no shoes on the mat. If you're joining a gi class, ask us about a loaner gi before you buy anything.
Will I be thrown in with experienced students on day one?+
No. Your first classes are fundamentals — learning positions and drilling with partners who remember being new. Nobody's first day here is about surviving; it's about learning.
Do I need to get in shape first?+
That's backwards — this is where you get in shape. Everyone starts at their own pace, and the conditioning comes from showing up, not from before you arrive.
What does it cost?+
Simple month-to-month memberships and punch cards — no contracts, no enrollment fees, cancel anytime online. Your first week is free, and we'll walk you through what fits after you've trained with us.
Can total beginners join?+
Absolutely. Our fundamentals track is beginner-friendly and every instructor guides new students step by step.
What's the difference between striking and Jiu-Jitsu classes?+
Striking classes (Muay Thai, kickboxing) focus on stand-up technique; Jiu-Jitsu focuses on ground fighting and self-defense. Many students train both.
